Hi all! I'm in big trouble. I hope you can help me with this: I have (had) two 400GB HD's in Raid1. One HD then made a strange noise and I couldn't figure out which one, so I thought I remove one phisically to check that. The Raid then of course showed degraded and I had the noise of the beep (new firmware). In order to stop the beep I thought It's a great idea to remove the raid so beep would stop. Now the beep stoped, but also all data is gone. No more shares, modules or anything but the network config and stuff. Call me idiot!! Now since I removed the second HD in a "Raid1 Health-Status", is there a way to get my data back? I guess all the data on HD 1 is gone. But I still have HD 2 where the data is on it. I don't like to play around with HD 2 as I don't like to loose this data too. Does maybe someone out there know a secure way to restore all my data? I have a lot of pictures of my twins on it. My wife will kill me!! Thank you Alex

Hi Again I finally found a way to restore all my files! I found a way with Knoppix. www.knoppix.org/Just attach the drive to your Windows PC and boot with Knoppix. There you can mount the partition and copy the data away (to your Windows Partition). You will still have to use chown/chmod in shell to gain access to the protected files from the Thecus-Partition. I am no Linux-Pro, but surfing the web searching for chown/chmod helped a lot. This just for your information. Regards Alex
