Turn off the HD LEDs, blink green on access

Please turn off the hard driver LEDs they are too big and bright. The HD LEDs are the most hideous LED I've seen in a long time. Look like something you find at an electronic surplus. Kinda like using old vaccuum tube. The NAS enclosure is nice looking but the LEDs just killed the look for me. Maybe it's a cost thing, I would have have been happy with one LED for HD access. If there was a problem with a drive, display the drive in the LCD screen.

HD LEDs should be in the off state by default. Blink green on access activity. Solid amber if there is trouble.

I disagree. respectfully of course. This is a taste thing and you really shouldn't be looking to your NAS drive for looks. Try the mirror instead. I like the led's telling me everything's ok.

I'm sorry but I do think you miss understood my comments. I never said remove the LEDs. I was pointing out they are too big and bright. You can see the LEDs a mile away, it's so bright you can land plans with it or make a good light house for ships at sea. I have the N3200 NAS is the same room as my DSL modem and router and they both have LEDS and yet they are not so bright that they fill the whole room with light. N3200 LED and LCD backlighing are too freaking bright and does almost nothing but annoy.

LEDs are nice for status but do they have to be so bright that it ruins your preferred room lighting? Also, the LCD display is useless.

Even the on/off button have lighting. Why? Perfect for kids to want to press. I would have preferred no light and move to the back of the device. This NAS is targeted for home use. Lets keep it simple.

My original comment was the LEDs should be in the off state and blink green when there is activity. If there is a bad drive, solid amber. Get rid of the LCD and save a few cents.
