the samsung spinpoint F1 HD502IJ 500GB works also. it's basically the same as the 166, but it uses slightly less power. i have a 502 and a 501 in the same case, which works fine. i'll test anything for free stuff

That's interesting, Andy. I asked support whether or not 1TB drives are supported and this was their reply:
"N299 support up to 500GB HDD only, such hugh volume HDD out of N299 design and would make N299 damged, instable or data crash easily, thus we would recommend N2100 or above model for 1TB HDD, enclosed HDD list for your reference:"
I think I'm inclined to give it a go. Obviously they'd rather sell me a more expensive chassis...
Will edit this message with my findings.

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD4000KD definitely doesn't work correct. The N299 sometimes recognizes it and you can create a RAID-config and folders on it, but next time it sees no disk at all.
Pitty, because I was hoping to give my old 400gb SATA disk a second life. Now I'm going to buy the 500gb WD Green disk.

1 TB WD Green Drive in a 2 TB configuration are not working! Bought the N299 due to recommendation that it could be used for 2 TB configuration - and after the 2 WD HD went in, the N299 is not recognizable anymore! By removing them, the N299 is recognizable again! Any suggestions?
