Hi....
I am considering purchasing an N5200BR PRO (diskless) and 5 x 1tb Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 drives.
Just wondering if anyone has used these drives with this unit?
Is there any reason to think these drives would not work?
Is there anything negative I should know about this combination before I buy?
Thanx in advance.
Chris Bradshaw.

I haven't used the 1TB drives, but I've got a 5200 Pro with 5 x 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 drives. I haven't seen any problem.

Hi, I am running a 5200B pro with 5x Seagte ST 3100 340NS, and am just installing a second 5200Bpro with 5x WD 1000 FYPS as Backup Server, which is at the moment formatting. Both are setup as RAID6, because I am afraid of loss of data.
Shaggy, do I know you from "former times" from Level-One FNS1000 configurations?
The world is small!
Best wishes George

Hi George,
I am new to this subject. I am considering buying of one N5200B Pro and deployment of 5 1TB HDs. As for the Seagate ST 31000 340NS, it is on the compatibility list. I wonder if there is some other server/ enterprize harddisks, which would be compatible with N5200B Pro and which you could recomend?
How about Hitachi Ultrastar A7K1000 1000GB SATA II (HUA721010KLA330) or Samsung Spinpoint F RAID (HE103UJ)?
Thanks a lot in advance
Vladimir

I just ordered an N5200B Pro and five Seagate ST3750330NS drives. They're not on the compatibility list yet but since the ES.2 line has replaced the ES line of NS drives I'm assuming they will be endorsed soon...

I bought my N5200BR Pro April 17 with just two Seagate ST31000340NS Barracuda ES.2 1000 GB drives initially and setup as RAID0. On April 22 I bought 4 more of the same drive and setup a RAID5 (4 drive + spare) and kept the last drive as a further (2nd line)spare! Within a few days one of the drives from the second purchase failed and my supplier replaced without question when I returned it in person on April 30. Replaced the drive and the RAID rebuilt itself and has been working without further error for . . . . 6 DAYS !!!

Only the "Spin Down" is not working but this is not a problem of the HDD´s. Greetings Rainer

Still, I'm wondering if I'd better be considering server/ enterprise HD's for the buy. The HD's would be spinning in my company at least from 7 am to perhaps 10 pm, five days a week and more, serving raster files across the network. Could you maybe spend some words on that subject? You use desktop version of the Hitachi 1TB HD's, are they the whole day busy spinning? The thing is, I worry about endurance of the HD's, if they can answer the needs of the company in the right way. Thanks again for your time Vladimir

Hi,
I’m also considering buying a N5200 Pro RouStor and starting with three Seagate ST3750330NS (750GB). Does anyone else of you has good or bad experience with these drives (e.g. problems with spin down or whatever)?
Thanks Tobias

Hi all, well, I decided to buy a N5200B Pro and five Seagate ST31000340NS Barracuda ES.2. It will take some time to get it, for the delivery time is anything between 3 and 4 weeks:(.
I will report on my experiences with it as soon as I have some:)...
