Hi,
I'm trying to use either Windows Media Player 11 or VLC from XP or Vista workstations in conjunction with the Media Server of the Thecus N299. FYI, the built-in iTunes server works fine for all PCs with iTunes client, and also mapping drives or FTP works great.
The problem is this: In Vista, I do see the NAS appear in WMP11, but it does not show any movies. In VLC, I do not know what network stream options to select. In XP, WM11 does not see the NAS (but at the same time, Windows Explorer does). VLC crashes regardless of what network stream options I choose.
Has anyone been able to use the built-in Streaming Media Server with either WMP11 or VLC? If so, what did you do to make it work? Thanks in advance.

In addition to the above: uPnP is enabled on NAS and router.

I've got a similar problem with my N299 running V1.00.26
WMP11 finds the device ok, but just doesn't show any media available on it. My Xbox 360 just refuses to see the media server at all :-(
I've got the media server enabled and the 'iTunes' and 'Video' folders checked. I've also got UPnP enabled on both the N299 and on my router. Both folders contain media (albeit within subfolders, but that shouldn't make a difference).
Any further ideas how to fix this issue?
