hi, i just got myself a 5200 pro NAS cuz most of similar competitive models have some disadvantages like infrant, buffalo (no bare-bones, ugly designed encasement, hdd's included are quite overpriced) , some of the cheaper ones only have 100 Mbit LAN and for some of the cheaper ones you have to pay for stuff like a media server .... so here is my wish list - maybe some of the ideas are technically unrealizable or simply not possible - well i hope some of you *ix gurus may help me to clear up. 01. a better NFS security option - NFS only works on public folders 02. NFS and NT security for the same folder .... 03. make the raid volume iscsi accessible ..... 04. locking mechanisms for iscsi volumes ..... databases on iscsi a.s.o. 05. virtual folders/shares like joining different folders into one 06. NFS and NT security for virtual folders/shares 07. an interface to manage the media-server database... 08. better documentation for non it-pros - non Linux-buffs 09. speed up the raid creation/rebuild process .... 10. ntfs / apple hpfs+ /ext3 /raiser a.s.o. file systems (read/write) for the external usb and especially the eSata drive. 11. reasonable priced/free modules or at least some links to placed where one can get some ... okay now my thx to thecus to make the most performant stand alone NAS-Box available / btw it is one of the most beautiful designed ones as well as the price/value relation is really okay .... cheers - ahab666
