At the present I think the only way of doing this would be to run Azureus in a chroot environment so that jre1.6 could be installed. While it's technically possible (perhaps) to build this into a module it would be huge. AZUR is already something like a 46MB mod file, adding a full chroot could add another 100MB to this.
I'll think about it if I manange to t get the chroot env much smaller than I'm currently using for the pms testing.
Failing that there are some instructions for building a chroot environment on the wiki.

I'm trying to upgrade the core to Azureus 3.1.1.0. which could be possible if I read this thread correct. The trick to load the torrent and after downloading waiting more then 20 minutes doesn't do the task. Can somebody give me some help? I'm using this fantastic mod for over a year now, but my favorite private tracker has banned all Azureus versions before this one.
Azsmrc was asking me to upgrade to 4.0 and higher I tried that also before reading this thread. That didn't works just as others.
BTW I'm on the latest beta-firmware of the Thecus

Drewy isnt it possible to update Java version just by downloading the newest java version and excute the *.bin file? I dont know where to excute it because it just would install in the directory you excuted. it ill make a new directory named after the update but the AZUR java version is still not updated. In the mean time i first let azureus update the newest version of azureus (4.2.0.8) then i waited about 15 minutes after that i just deactivated the AZUR Module (after maybe a hour) i activated the AZUR Module again now i got the newest version of Azureus.I got a newer and faster solution and that is update your azureus version (dont upgrade azsmrc plugin) if you downloaded the update wait until the update disappears from the upload section (it would take about max 10 minutes). Then visit your NAS configuration site and disable AZUR Module. Wait 1 minute then r enable module and visit azureus HTMLWEBUI to see if the azureus version is updated.

Ive managed to Use the latest azureus (vuze) version 4.2.0.8 and the latest version of AzSMRC on azureus client and server plugin version 1.0.0 DONT UPGRADE AzSMRC SERVER PLUGIN VERSION TO 1.0.0updating to the latest Azureus (vuze) version 4.2.0.8 see my previous post. Drewy you said to we couldnt connect azureus remote client to azureus server because dint have the latest java version. So this is what i did. Needed: SYSUSER Module SSHD Module Latest Java for linux MOST OF YOU USERS DONT KNOW HOW TO WORK WITH LINUX SO TRY TO WORK AS MUCH AS YOU CAN WITH TAB-BUTTON IF YOU ARE BROWSING ON THE NAS, THIS WAY YOU CANT ALMOST ENTER THE WRONG DIRECTORY- 1. First i downloaded the latest Java version for linux and i putted on the NAS so i could reach it through SSH and disabled AZUR Module. www.java.com/nl/download/linux_manual.jsp?locale=nl&host=www.java.com- 2. Second thing i did is connecting the NAS through SSH and browsed to the directory where i putted the Latest java version. - 3. Then i copied it to /raid/data/module/AZUR/system/bin/ ( cp <javaversion>.bin /raid/data/module/AZUR/system/bin/) and browse to that directory ( use command cd) - 4. I renamed the existing "jre" directory to "jre-backup". ( mv jre jre-backup) - 5. Installed the latest version of Java and renamed the directory to "jre" ( ./<javaversion>.bin tap couple of times on space bar then type " yes" and hit Enter then mv <javaversion directory/> jre) Now you can remove the *.bin file ( rm <javaversion>.bin) - 6. And then i enabled the AZUR Module and used AzSMRC remote client to connect the server updated everything including AzSMRC version 1.0.0. I tried to connect the Azureus module using AzSMRC remote client and i connected it. checked the details of the server ( Azureus version 4.2.0.8 and AzSMRC server plugin version 1.0.0Maybe this is what you said by it would take alot of space but im not worried about that because i still have MORE then enough space on my NAS. The directory is 101.8 MB big This is one of the best modules so im really not pissed even if it would take up 200-300 MB of space. Everything works including the firefox addon "BitTorrent WebUI" edit: made the tutorial more userfriendly

For the people without patient or the ones that dont succeed in updating to the latest azureus (vuze) version. You could also just download Azureus for linux and i mean for linux he NOT WINDOWS. Before continuing please disable AZUR module on you NAS. azureus.sourceforge.net/index.php download & Unzip it. Then replace all the files in the Azureus directory with the ones you just unzipped. The directory is: /raid/data/module/AZUR/system/bin/azureus/would still advise you try my first method.

Java Linux Version 1.6 update 16: javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=33880My Firmware version of the NAS is: 2.01.09 edit: I dont know if it would make a difference which NAS i got mines (5200B Pro) I really dont think that it would be kinda of a problem, cause they use the same firmware and the linux version is still the same.

unfortunatley I'm currently running the v3.... beta. It has problems with autoshutdown and I'd really like to downgrade but at the moment I am unable to.
I'll have a play with it this weekend and see what I can do.

Beta of rebuilt module (v2) is at www.drewy.com/download_doc.aspx?doc_id=136NOTE: This module includes the latest version of Vuze (4.2.0.8) and the latest Java runtime. This version does support v1 of the AzSMRC client. This module has been tested with the latest Thecus beta firmware v3.00.04.5 but not any older versions. Please feel free to test with other versions of Thecus firmware, but don't be too surprised if it doesn't work.

I dont know if you use your module but if you do how does it work under the beta firmware of thecus?

the .mod file is a gzipped tar file, so it's compressed. Once installed it expands to something like 112mb.
It's working on the latest beta firmware. By working I mean I am able to add torrents via azsmrc and the thecus downloads them without issue. I'm not a power azureus\vuze user so can't comment on all features working.

So i was right about that mod files were compressed files. and about the latest beta firmware ill browse abit more to see what kind of problems there are and with what kind of Harddrives, If there aint any problems with my kind of harddisk vendor then ill upgrade to the latest beta firmware and ill try to test most of the features of azur module. youll hear from me if i encounter any problems or not. thanks for the updated azur module ;D

Drewy this is my conclusion:
What have i done? Ive upgrade to firmware version 3.0.0.4.5 and tried Azur beta module.
Problem: DONT UPGRADE azsmrc server plugin to version 1.0.0 the client version however isnt a problem.
If you do that the azsmrc remote client doesnt have the ability to control the plugins of azureus module. by that i mean changing configuration like mediaserver or changing configuration of Azureus HTML WebUI. you just cant connect to the plugins.
I dont think this has anything to do with the firmware version of thecus but im not 100% sure about it. Maybe somebody could test it with a older firmware version.
situation now? Ive remove the new beta Azur module. And installed the older version. i also updated the java version using the manual i made above and have also the latest azureus(vuze) version. Everything works great now. ill try to make a thread in the azsmrc forum about the bug.
I hope i made you happy with my post about the module. And maybe this is abit usefull. If you have any question please post it.
edit: I think the remote plugin problem could also appear by using the latest version of azureus but im not sure.

ok thanks for that.
So does the azsrmc work with your manually upgraded azur module with the v1 plugin installed?
Would like to know whether it's something unique to my module build or a more general problem.
