Hi,
I am the not so proud owner of an N299 with 2 x Samsung 500GB drives set in RAID 1 mode.
As far as I can tell everything is configured fine except that when transferring files to my shares the transfer starts off quickish (5MBps) and then slowly (over 2 or 3 hours) gets lower and lower and lower until it finally gets to less than 10KBps and then the connection drops off and I get an error message.
X:\ is not accesible.
Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.
I just purchased a Thecus N299 with 2 x 500GB Samsung drives. I can go into significant detail regarding the config of it (I can send screenshots of every screen) however prior to that I just wanted to quickly run past the error I am getting. I'm an MCSE with 10 yrs+ of IT experience so am not a newbie to IP/sharing/windows etc. The N299 is to just be used by my wife and I in our home office to replace my existing PC shared folders/mirror setup.
I've created a RAID1 (mirror) of the 2 drives and 3 shares on the resulting drive. All ACL's are correct (Writeable) and at this stage I only have 1 account with ACL set on each share. I want to access my shares by mapping a drive.
X = \\192.168.1.100\Shared
Y = \\192.168.1.100\Music
Z = \\192.168.1.100\Backups
I have used the same username and password for windows and the N299 account and mapping the drives is fine.
However on transferring my 100GB of data (various file sizes - very large and very small) from my old share...the transfer starts off fine but then after about 2-3hours of copying (slowing down all the time) fails and the X:\ drive is no longer accessible and I get the error message:
Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.
All 3 shares are then no longer accessible.
Firmware on the [N299] is
Latest firmware: v1.00.15
I am running Vista Ultimate on a Core 2 Duo with 4 GBs of RAM.
On restarting the machine in an attempt to resolve the above error message when trying to access the mapped drives (which I have set as persistant mappings) come up with the following error:
An error occured while reconnection X: to
\\192.168.1.100\Shared
Microsoft Windows Network: Not enough storage is available to process this command.
This connection has not been restored.
I then have to delete the mappings using the net use command - I can then reconnect them however they will only stay connected for 2-3 hours and then the problem repeats.
I can access the web interface, ping the N299 but can't access the shares once that error has started up.
No errors in the Log on the Thecus. As I said everything seems configured fine - IP details, Accounts, Shares, Workgroup name etc.
I have the N299 plugged into my network using the "1" UTP outlet on the device which I presume is related to the WAN configuration.
It is configured as:
WAN Configuration
Host Name = N299
Domain Name = left this blank as I am not running a DNS server
MAC Address = 00:14:FD:10:E2:7A
Jumbo Frame Support = Disabled
Connection Type = Static
IP = 192.168.1.100
Netmask = 255.255.255.0
Gateway = 192.168.1.254
DNS Server = 192.168.1.254
IP Sharing Mode = Disabled
Any ideas before I go into much more detail? I don't want to have to return the N299 if I can avoid it.
Thanks in advance.
