Good Day All,
I was wondering if someone could give me an idea as to how long to expect the initial formatting to take? I've seen posts that suggest 1hour to 250 GB. I'm running four 750's as a Raid 5. It's been running for about 48 hours now and I'm sure somethings wrong... I just don't want to reset if it's almost there!
Thanks

I have the same setup with 4 x 750 GB running raid 5. I can't remember how long my format took, but it was something in the magnitures of a day or three.. it just let it be and went to sleep and to work etc. and suddently it was finished ... think about 40 hours or so +- 20

Hello,
Ah, there's someone with the exact same setup. I received the system today and I'm also setting up four 750GB disks with RAID5. I'm currently at 10.5% finished with 1082minutes to go.
I suppose I just have to be patient.
Cheers,

I installed five 1.5TB HD as RAID 5 and it took 24 hrs. to format.
As a test, I removed one 1.5 TB HD and replaced it with a different 1.5TB HD and it took also 24 hrs to rebuild the RAID.

The %time formatting codes are designed to be easy to remember and use, and to take up just as many characters as the output time value whenever possible. For example, the four-digit year code is "yyyy", the three-letter month abbreviation is "Mon".The functions described in this section format calendar time values as strings. These functions are declared in the header file time.h. — Function: char * asctime (const struct tm *brokentime)
The asctime function converts the broken-down time value that brokentime points to into a string in a standard format:
"Tue May 21 13:46:22 1991\n"
The abbreviations for the days of week are: ‘Sun’, ‘Mon’, ‘Tue’, ‘Wed’, ‘Thu’, ‘Fri’, and ‘Sat’.
The abbreviations for the months are: ‘Jan’, ‘Feb’, ‘Mar’, ‘Apr’, ‘May’, ‘Jun’, ‘Jul’, ‘Aug’, ‘Sep’, ‘Oct’, ‘Nov’, and ‘Dec’.
