Hi,
Does anyone know how to bind the built-in FTP server to an external IP address? My setup is like this:
Internet -> (external ip) Sonicwall Firewall -> (internal IP) 1U4500
When i use port forwarding, the FTP requests are being passed thru to the 1U4500 with the external IP address, so the 1U4500 is not accepting external FTP users. (internally, the FTP server works fine)
WAN IP (1U4500): 192.168.0.7 LAN IP (1U4500): 192.168.2.7 (Not in use)
Any ideas would be great...

This will make the request appear to come from the Firewall's internal address. Cheers, Antz

Hi Antz,
Thanks for the suggestion however the firewall is currently setup with NAT enabled, (we have other devices inc web server and smtp server behind the sonicwall which successfully use port forwarding) yet still the 1U4500 won't answer the incoming ftp requests.
Thanks,
Ash

Without knowing the 1U4500 (I have a 5200) I assume thats more a problem of correct setup of the firewall - FTP is a tricky thing for firewalls, cause depending if using active or passive different ports have to be open - actually the firewall should handle this if the setup is correct. br Peter
