So first of all, i have to say i am linux gimp. Thats the reason why i bought the n2100 instead of a linux system for my file storage.
The forum helped me, to modify the Allnet6500 to Thecus N2100. SSH login works.
I want to realise a simple acl permission, but i'm not able to do it. My goal is:
* Make a folder for a User Group wirteable, but secure the subfolders from deletion for its safety (in the past a friend of mine killed a complete projekt by deleting the directy by mistake)
Looks like:
* Projekts (ACL Share / wirteable for Group employees) ---subprojekt1 ------subsubfolder1 ------subsubfolder2 ---subprojekt2 .....
It should simply be impossible to delete subprojekt1 and subprojekt2.
I was able to create diffent folders an usergroups an i can access it through Windows (the share was created with thecus web interface, user has permission to write).
The permission from Thecus Webtool is simply for the entire share. I thougt it might be possible to chance permission with something like "chmod 440 subfolder". I was able to chance the permission, but it didnt't worked. The Directoys can still be deleted with the Windows Comannder...
Looking for help...
Yours, Oli

I think that you'll find everyone is in the same situation with ACL and samba. There is a group looking into this for the 5200 but that seems to have been diverted by those looking for LDAP integration. Have a look here: onbeat.dk/thecus/index.php/N5200_ACL_and_SharesYou may be able to apply some of the ACL commands there to your sub folders...
