Hi Guys/Gals
using webdisk from either remote or local, I am struggling to get the N1200 to stream Video The only files i can stream are WMV, it invokes windows media player (ver 11) all the other formats want to download the whole file prior to playing. It could be that the wmv file is actualy downloading too, it is only 3 megs....
I thought the point of having media servers was to play media....
I can stream anything i want another way, that is if i map a drive to the relevant folder for example \\Nas1200\Films when i double click the file the assoiciated player invokes and streams perfectly...
The issue i have is that i can't map a drive from another location so therefore i can't watch a film unless i'm prepared to use ftp to pull it over in full first....Does anyone know if the assoications are defined by webdisk or weather it's the file assoication of the computer that determines the player to be invoked. I have suited codecs on the computer to play just about any files.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Webdisk is just a kind of download via the webbrowser instead of mapping drives. It's very handy to use when being away from home and in need of getting files from your box at home.
Also video and audio streaming need a streaming-program that caches data for and pushes it to the client that supports streaming audio/video.
For the 2100 there is a Twonky-media module or some others. Hopefully for you there will be for the 1200, otherwise maybe you can create them yourself.

I thought N1200 comes with Mediabolic Mediaserver. I read somewherer on the site that PS3 works with Mediaserver.

I thought N1200 comes with Mediabolic Mediaserver. I read somewherer on the site that PS3 works with Mediaserver. hi, yes it has Mediabolic (macrovision) server onboard. but as i said, I can stream from a remote location, provided the file type is either WMV or 3gp (crikey!!!!) the webdisk seems to act as a GUI front end (as suggested by Rookie) The itunes seems to be ok, but only on local network, and it is limited, i can't save playlists under N1200 but if i map a drive to N1200 it plays the files, no matter which file format for video/mp3/photo's etc. i will do some reading on mediabolics site to see if we can add other formats, although i suspect it will involve a firmware re-write. I have Twonky vision file from my last NAS the icybox (NAS2000) I wonder what would happen if i used the "module management" tool to install it, I guess it would fail....(designed for ARM9 processor) sigh.....
