Had my 5200 for a while now; some initial teething troubles with FTP, but have worked around that (used a different server).
I guess my main wish now is for a way of backing up to a USB DVD writer. I am happily backing up to another FTP server that is at the same site. If a metorite hits, my data is toast :-)
I need to create backups for off-site storage.
I could backup over the network, true. I'd much rather backup to a locally-attached device (faster, fewer network-induced gremlins to consider [recall: "a distributed system is one where a machine on the other side of the world, that you have never heard of, can crash yours"]).
I could backup to a locally attached USB HDD, but that is costly and not as good/permanent as DVD.
Has anyone tried this?
Cheers,
Alph
