There are many Squeezebox users who would like to see Slimserver implemented on this NAS. It has the CPU power plus fast network performance and if implemented would pull market from other less capable NAS devices currently used as well as many DIY homegrown servers.

Well .... Check out Slimdevices. Interestingly the Google ads at the bottom of this page are showing Slimdevices links. SD is bundling Infrant NAS boxes with the Squeezebox or Transporter. However with the latest releases these boxes are running out of CPU power to support the features especially if one accesses via the web server. There is a lot of development going on with other NAS devices but other than DIY or PC based servers the SOHO NAS units don't have the HP THecus 5200 has. There is a very large SS community and the Thecus is discussed frequently for the reasons mentioned. SD has one of the largest communities and the preferred setup is a NAS running SS. Thecus has the right product positioning to capture market if it is supported soon before other catch up. Windows Home Server could be a threat since I would expect comparable HP and openness to running third party services as it is WS2003 based. The time is right. Personally I would jump to the 5200 today if I knew I could get SS up. I need the network speed for my work, That couple with SS would pry the dollars out - certainly if compared with the Infrant offering. forums.slimdevices.com/

Hi Pellicle, I checked out that software, puuh, hard to install... They need PERL, MySQL, additional PERL modules and the whole installation procedure is somehow "sensitive".... But - basically it is already running on my N5200 ;D I'm a little bit busy at the moment, but I'll try to create a module soon, no promise though..... Andreas
