Got a friend who was so impressed by my 5200 he set one up in a business he supports...
He would like to set up a VPN tunnel so people can get files stored on it remotely.
Anyone know of a way to set up a VPM module of some kind (I know of Hamachi but I don't think there is a way of getting it loaded on the NAS).
Any ideas?

Depending on if you want a GUI or if your friend knows enough Linux to do it via command line. If you want a GUI, it is not hard to do, just have to write the a web GUI as a module. There just isn't one yet, so you will need to write one yourself, or hope that someone writes one that you can use.
If you want to do it via command line, the N5200 already has openvpn installed. It is installed and used with the NSYNC feature to allow two N5200 to securely backup data to one another. Just install the SSHD and SYSUSER module so you can get to the N5200, and then you can manually configure the openvpn server to accept connections. Configure the remote machines to connect and you are done.
You can google openvpn for help in setup if necessary.

Hi....
I have not the need for VPN on the N5200 myself.
But VPN does include encryption/decryption and I consider that quite CPU-intensive tasks.
Anybody have experience with a VPN-endpoint on the N5200 itself?
It doesn't have superfast processor, so I wonder if it will "drag down" other tasks.
If it does work well/acceptable or even not at all, I would like to know....

Thanks guys!
I am trying to command line control OPENVPN on the 5200 and am not finding it where the OpenVPN documentation says it should be (/etc/OpenVPN).
Where does Thecus hide it?
