Hi all,
I wonder if it would be possible to build two raid groups on a N5200, say for example one raid 5 of three disks, plus on ejbod of two disks.
I guess HTML interface wouldn't like this. But ssh and config files doesn't scared me...;-)
Hope your ideas Regards Pierre

Hi pwi, theoratically it should be possible, cause the N5200 uses SW raid and administers it with mdadm. Personally I think, that if You configure it manually the web interface will be completly useless for all disk and folder operations and even may destroy manual created configuration. I have a self build file server - debian based - (not in operation at the moment, cause it was replaced by the N5200) and I have done the raid administration on this device with webmin - however I have not used ACL, only samba configuration with webmin. 10% of the administration had to be done manualy via console.
Edited : mdadm don't use configuration files
I have checked my device now and actually there are 2 raids in operation:

Hello peterfu, i would appreciate if you possibly can give a hint how to install the second raid! I´m new on the topic N5200 and i don´t know how to parameterice this, but i would use it if i would know how to! Is there anywhere a manual on this? I haven´t found one yet. Best regards, Randalo

The 2 raids in my reply above are the ones without any manual configuration - I think the second one (md1) is build from the FW. If you want to build raids for yourself using mdadm then you might take a look here: www.linuxdevcenter.com/pub/a/linux/2002/12/05/RAID.htmlBut I won't do it, cause I have no idea what the thecus special software will do with it - howevere, having a brand new N5200 with no data on it may be a good experimental device for that. I have no idea how the webinterface will react if you create raids manually. br Peter
