Hi everybody,
First, sorry to bother you with trivial questions, but how do you exactly install a module ? I don't have any "Module management" menu in the web interface (1.00.07) when logged under the admin account. I probably miss something there ... I actually do need the INFO module to monitor the disks temperature (2 out of 5 x 750GB disks already fried after 7 months, despite the N5200 being in a white ACed room). As a sidenote, I'd be willing to help with the HTML layout of the module, as I read somewhere that Omega/Andreas would like some help there.
Btw, after the fried disks, I upgraded the fans to better stuff (Papst 3412N/2GHH for the main one, and another Papst for the power supply), and cut away the rear grates for a better airflow. As the power supply fan was competing with the main one to extract air from inside, and losing to it, the airflow was stalled in the power supply, and I had to reverse the fan (blowing inward instead of extracting, normally something you shouldn't do, but works here as the PSU is quite efficient, and the main fan can take it all easily). I then closed about 20% of the left side vent to increase the airflow on the disks. Now everything is pretty much cool inside, whereas with the stock fans the disks were getting really hot. The CPU/chipset heatsinks are almost cold.

Hi
Module Management is under the "System" menu between "Config Mgmt" and "Factory Default"
If it's not there then try reflash with .07 firmware.
Cheers

Don't forget, that in 1.00.07 the module management menu entry will not be there if you have any USB drive connected. This is not a feature, this is a bug. Would be really nice to get your help for the INFO module web page. Ah, and keep in mind that the temperature reporting is not available for all drives (depends on the manufactuerer of the drive) and that the temperature, if shown, needn't be correct at all (this also depends on the drive model). At least you should be able to compare the relative values. But it's a worth a try..... Andreas

I reacted to the lack of a "module management" menu item as well when I first got my N5200. Fortunately, the assumption I made after some thinking was correct - module management is not available during the build of the RAID. As soon as the RAID was built, the menu appeared. Afterwards, when I started to look into the mechanics of modules, it was extremely clear - the modules are installed in a folder on the RAID, so before a RAID is built, there is no place to install them.

Yes, that's right...
Could someone, if not already done, add this to the FAQ:
The module management menu does not appear: a) If the RAID isn't setup (completely) b) If, at least for the current version, a USB drive is connected

Hi everybody I'm wondering me what I do wrong. I can try to install every module available on onbeat.dk/thecus page and no one appears on the System/Module Mgmt Page. I tried it wit 1.00.08 and now with 1.00.10. The good thing at 1.00.10 is, I dont loose every time my RAID-Config after trying to install a module and then reboot (It seems that .10 at every boot do a RAID-Assambly)The bad thing...Modules still dont appears. I saw in my Log follow entries under warn: 2007/06/01 12:26:46 N5200 : Warning:Your System folder "usbcopy" is not exist 2007/06/01 12:26:46 N5200 : Warning:Your System folder "tmp" is not exist 2007/06/01 12:26:46 N5200 : Warning:Your System folder "ftproot" is not exist I tried a Factory Default, no success. I tried to install the SHHD Module, module dont work/apears. Also I tried to install the IMGDUP Module, module dont work/apears. My RAID is done a long time and everything (except FTP) works fine with shares etc. Except I dont have an external USB-Disc, just a Stick and it also dont work with it. Hope this is not the reason (I read something about this). So, finally, who can help me with my Problem. I read almost all posts in this UserGroup and nothing can help me Thanks for some answers

I saw in my Log follow entries under warn: 2007/06/01 12:26:46 N5200 : Warning:Your System folder "usbcopy" is not exist 2007/06/01 12:26:46 N5200 : Warning:Your System folder "tmp" is not exist 2007/06/01 12:26:46 N5200 : Warning:Your System folder "ftproot" is not exist I think the reason why the module installations are not working is the missing tmp folder and the reason why ftp is not working is the missing ftproot directory. So from my opinion the directories: /raid/tmp /raid/data/ftproot /raid/data/usbcopy are missing I see 2 possibilities: a) write a batch which creates these directories b) create everything from scratch (means backup all data, remove harddisks - degrade the raid - and insert harddisks again for a complete rebuild of the directory structure) I had a similar problem with missing folders and solved it with version b. As You don't know exactly if some other folders are missing I would do version b in any way br Peter

hmm, and how to create a batch? ...... I personally have taken the RENMOD batch from omega - is available at the thecus wikki - and modified it. That depends if You have a linux box available and if You are familiar with some basic linux shell scripting. But any way, if You have the possibility to backup Your data, I would recommend to build everything from scratch. - backup data - delete raid - remove users - remove disks - remove users - upload latest FW without disks - put in disks again (but in a different order) - build everything from scratch I know it will take ages to do that, but that is the clean way. If You don't want to do that, then send me a pm with Your e-mail adress I can provide You during the weekend with a batch that creates the missing directories. br Peter
