Just got my n5200B Pro.
It has 512MB DDR 333, CL 2.5. So, upgraded to 1GB of same spec Corsair VS1GB333 and it works fine. $20 US after rebate.

FYI - 400mHz @ CL3 and 333mHz @cl2.5 are for all practical purposes identical in performance. Only .1 % difference.

Just installed a Ultra 1024Mb dimm in my Thecus N5200Pro (replacing the existing module) and it works just fine ... GUI works a lot faster, PHP/MySQL apps run faster as expected ... Model: ULT31664, PC3200, 400Mhz, chips on both sides, chip model 46V64M8-58. Hope this is helpful ... ($34, link: Ultra 1Gb @ TigerDirect) I just installed the same Ultra ULT31664 memory that I bought in person at CompUSA. It installed fine and since it was a new NAS, the RAID built FASTER by a lot than with the stock 512MB stick. Building a RAID10 with 5 1.5TB + 1 SPARE 1.5TB took about 16 hours instead of 24+ hours with the old 512MB stick.....

I have NON-PRO N5200 - installed: Kingston ValueRAM 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Desktop Memory Model KVR400X64C3A/1G
Works fine - Web interface and services (firefly and ftp) do work noticeably faster.
Did not notice any major improvement in transfer rates. Bottomline - the upgrade worths $40 spent.

I recently upgraded my Pro to one gig of RAM. Been running for about a week and there haven't been any issues. I whipped up a quick and dirty (and imperfect) program to do some speed comparisons before and after the RAM upgrade. Connected over SAMBA, I saw the following changes: - Very little change in write speed - Significant improvement in read speed with a single process - Moderate improvement in read speed with multiple processes reading data www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820141429Original RAM: Replacement RAM:

just for the hell of it..... anyone try a 2gb stick? That would mean server type RAM right? As in ECC, because I've never seen a non-ECC DDR of that size on a single stick. Cheers

Cheers Actually, Kingston has 2Gb PC3200 non ECC ValueRAM (KVR400D2N3/2G). It's not even that expensive (32 euro here). I'm kind of tempted to try.

Another success here with a stick of KVR333X64C25/1G on a 5200 (non-pro).
Works pretty snappy. Wondering if its worth the upgrade to the Pro motherboard though.

In my old N5200 non-pro I was using a Apacer 1GB UNB ECC PC2700 CL2.5 and it was working perfectly.
I trying to move it to my N5200pro and it just beeps at me, does the pro have more stringent memory requirements?
