Hello to everybody!
I joined this great forum, because I am owner of a 5200 since a few hours. I read a lot of you postings, but I did not find an answer to my very simple question.
The NAS is still in the box. No drive is installed. I don't even know the firmware version of this NAS. I want to start with the actual 2.00.04 version, which is online since a couple of hours:
Is it possible, just to update the system to the actual firmware, whatever the installed FW so far is? Or do I need to make several steps between instead of jumping from 1.xx to the actual version?
Is there any reason, not to update the firmware first, before I install drives and more?
I hope your answers will make it possible to start successful in my 5200 aera.
Thank you suceht

Hi suceht, open the box, fire it up, configure it and check what firmware version it is - if it is a brand new, then I assume You have FW 2.00.01 or the new one 2.00.04. Even if it is a lower one, then You can upgrade immediate to 2.00.04 - without drives installed. br peter

You can go straight to 2.00.04 from whatever firmware yoiu have as far as i know.
My N5200Pro is only a couple of weeks old, but had 2.00.00 installed out of the box.
Upgraded without a problem.

Thank you, I've updated the FW to .04 before I build in the disks - without any problems. Raid 6 with 4 Disks plus 1 Spare ist installed too. Now I'll figure out, how to use DFS and other features. By the way Happy New Year! suceht

Hello, just note that you will not find the module management before raid is probably built and assembled. Once the disks are in and the raid is ready you will be able to install modules if you wish. Take a look at: www.onbeat.dk/thecus/Best regards Jeronimo
