Got my n2100 today. Installed 2 WD2500KS drives (they're on the list) and using the installation wizard I named the device, setup a raid 1 array (shows "healthy") and set a new password. I did not make any changes in the network configuration page, as I'm perfectly happy with a static IP address.
So far so good.
I cannot connect to the device with my web browser however. All attempts to connect to 192.168.1.100 result in the following error message using Firefox, and something similar in IE:
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.1.100.
Once the device is turned on and initialized, I have a blue power light and the first network light blinks about once every 2 seconds.
If I run the install wizard again it sees the device and everything appears normal.
I've emailed customer support but from what I've read, I'm not holding my breath for a response anytime soon. Hope you guys can help.

In case it matters, my serial# is N2100B01337 and the firmware revision is 2.1.00.
I had planned to upgrade to 2.1.01 but of course I can't at the moment.

Do you switch on the n2100 DHCP ? I did not. Figured the default fixed IP was fine. What is your ip when you try to ping the nas ? My computers IP address is 192.168.0.100. My router is 192.168.0.1. My computer and the N2100 are plugged into the same router.

So what's your subnet mask? If its 255.255.255.0 it wouldn't work. Try changing your ip to something within the same network, say 192.168.1.101 (mask 255.255.255.0). Change the ip of the N2100 to something within the range of your homenetwork, say 192.168.0.100, adn then change back your computers ip.

You have twice solutions :
First : Change your N2100 ip to 192.168.0.X (Use the wizard soft, that will be the easiest solution. Choose an IP you haven't defined yet.)
Second : Change all your devices mask to 255.255.0.0

Yep, this is clear. If your NAS is trying to get an IP which the router does not allow basically it is off the network. I would suggest to change the router IP to 192.160.1.XXX and the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0. Then your router should be instantly visible. YOu can then make all changes and firmware upgrades.

My subnet mask is indeed set to 255.255.255.0. I will try setting the NAS IP to 192.168.0.x when I get home this evening and see if that works. What about the gateway address? Should that be set to the IP of my router?
Sure do appreciate this forum.

Yes, as well as the DNS server. If you are also in a workgroup you should put the same name in the menu network->SMB Settings->workgroup name. then your NAS will be visible in your network neighborhood within Windows.

That worked. I assigned the NAS an IP of 192.168.0.199 and it connected no problem. A novice problem to be sure, but I'm thankfull for you all pitching in to help me out. I even found where this requirement was mentioned in the full users manual, but not in the quick start guide of course.
I've already upgraded the firmware and am re-building the array as I type.
I'll probably be back with more questions once I get farther into it. ;D
