I don't use iSCSI, but i really like the idea behind it. Gives some more flexability to how an N5200 can be used. I may well make use of it later in the life span of my N5200

Hi, I would love to use it but it doesn't work properly with my Dell inspiron 6400 and Vista ultimate. The notebook quite often hung up itself during access to the iscsi drive, could only switch it off and reboot. I have spent many hours, even set the notebook to factory default but with the same result so I don't use iscsi but really would like. Now I am waiting 11 weeks so far but no new firmware!! Regards

iSCSI is the main use for my box....as "SAN" for my VMware ESX Cluster and for providing Cluster-Disks for my virtual Windows Clusters.
Therefore I modified my box to allow more than one iSCSI target per defined RAID...

iSCSI works well for VMware after you change the config.

I'm looking at setting this up - what config changes have you done?

I had a very early version of the firmware (2.00.0011) on my N5200 Pro. ESX server seems to require at least 8 connections to the iSCSI target. I used the IMGDUP module to allow me to modify the IETD.CONF file to achieve this. I am not sure if this is required with the latest 2.00.04 firmware - there were iSCSI changes introduced with this firmware version so it would be worth checking with the 2.00.04 version first because the Max Connections was upgraded from 1 to 8 PS: Don't have IMGDUP installed if you are going to do a firmware upgrade.

I use it for testing.
Into the LAN it works very quick but different computer who connect the same iscsi drive see different version of file. After a reboot of the computer the has the actual boot version.
I can´t connect the icsci drive over Internet although the ports are free into the router.

Got the 5200 pro last week to store all my media (music, dvds, photos etc). I have an HTPC with xbox360s as extenders but couldn't get the 360s to pick up all the media via the media centre interface so reconfigured the array to 1% data 99% iscsi and all works great .

I have just got my N5200Pro and have loaded it with 5 x 500gb HDDs RAID5. I am new to iSCSI but had read that it was close to as fast as internal HDDs so I set it up as 99% iSCSI 1% Target USB and loaded the iSCSI with all my music/photos/movies etc that I want to share throughout my home network. The question I have though is how do I go about sharing it now? Do I use Windows File sharing from my main computer or is there another way to share it? I have tried to use the iSCSI initiator on two computers at the same time but it doesn't seem to like that. Any advice would be appreciated.
