Hi gang,
I have a N5200 f/w 1.00.07, it's about a year old.
About 6 hours ago I have started getting these messages in my N5200 logs: 2007/11/04 07:43:43 N5200 : Hard Disk on N5200 has an I/O error. The messages seem to coming about 5 per hour.
However the raid is not running degraded and checking the smart status shows all the drives are fine with no errors. Does anybody have any ideas what might be going on? Or where I can look to find which drive is having issues? I have shell access mods installed.
Thanks, -J

Hi jk the message is a litte bit misleading. There is no problem on one of your Harddisks, but with the DOM ("Disk on memory" -> CF Disk) inside your Box where the oparating system is running on and where booted from. There could be two reasons: 1) The DOM is defective (Thecus has some hardware-problems in the past). So you have to replace it via an RMA of your reseller. 2) Try the 2.xx firmware (last official 2.00.01). They have fixed a "memory leak" where after some (long) time it could happen that the DOM runs out of disk-space leading into different effects (No SMB connection, Problems in web-interface,...). So I would suggest to do this first (Try to boot the box several times till you have functional web-interface or when this is not possible, try the USB-Stick Boot-Upgrade (look in the forum how to do this!)) There are a lot of Posts about the DOM problem inside this forum. Look around! thecususergroup.proboards106.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=n5200installations&thread=1190026471&page=1#1190400340

Weissenh Thanks!
I wouldn't have made the connection to the DOM. I see there are quite a few threads on it.

I am having this same problem Can someone send me the files to try reseting my 5200 on the USB? I am totally stuck right now. I have usable Web interface, but it says Upgrade fails. I have tried using the USB-stick Boot-Upgrade, but it didn't work for me.
